Compensation : $100,000-$120,000
Schedule : Monday-Friday | Full-Time
A growing manufacturing company in Grand Rapids is seeking an experienced Controller to provide strategic financial leadership and partner closely with operations. This role plays a key part in aligning financial objectives with business performance, driving cost optimization, and supporting long-term growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who enjoys working cross-functionally and using data to influence business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee general ledger, month-end close, and preparation of accurate financial statements
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control procedures
Prepare management reports highlighting key trends, variances, and financial performance
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting process and assist with ongoing forecasts
Partner with department and plant leaders to monitor budget adherence and identify opportunities for cost savings
Cost Accounting & Analysis
Maintain and update standard costs, review variances, and analyze product profitability
Support inventory valuation, cycle counts, and margin analysis
Operational Support
Collaborate with plant and operations teams to understand financial impacts of production activity
Provide guidance on pricing, cost control, and process improvement initiatives
Cash Management & Compliance
Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and support audit activities
Ensure strong internal controls and adherence to company policies
Process Improvement
Streamline accounting procedures and enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency
Assist in system upgrades or ERP optimization projects
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred)
5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
Proven leadership experience with a background in manufacturing operations
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, FP&A, and operations finance
Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel; BI tools experience a plus
Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills
Ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence key business partners
