About the Role
This is a confidential search on behalf of a defense sector client seeking a skilled Packaging Technician (1st Shift) to support packaging operations for military and commercial shipments. The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of specialized packaging practices, and a commitment to safety and compliance in a defense manufacturing environment. 28-35 an hour depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Package finished products for shipment using Foam-in-Place, Military Packaging, and Commercial Packaging practices.
Apply oils to parts for corrosion prevention prior to packing.
Maintain accurate records of serial numbers, packaging contents, and shipment dates.
Wrap items individually and use vacuum heat sealing, foil, and plastic bags.
Assemble cardboard boxes, crates, tubes, and supports for shipping containers.
Prepare wooden containers using saws, hammers, pneumatic tools, nails, and strapping equipment.
Produce packaging labels including RFID / UID labeling; use stencil machines for lettering.
Operate stackers to move heavy shipping containers.
Complete transportation slips, requisitions, shortage lists, and related paperwork.
Maintain compliance with safety, housekeeping, and defense industry regulations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
VantageClear credential, active Security Clearance, or a recognized equivalent compliance certification required.
Basic computer skills with the ability to enter and verify data into forms or databases.
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs frequently.
Awareness of safety and security protocols in a defense manufacturing environment.
