SENIOR AUTOMATION ENGINEER

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Controls / Automation Engineer will support the design, implementation, commissioning, qualification, and ongoing maintenance of building and equipment automation systems within a GMP manufacturing environment. This role provides technical support, resolves operational issues, and identifies continuous improvement opportunities across automation platforms and instrumentation systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical expertise for building and equipment automation systems, including troubleshooting and system support.
- Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and equipment specifications to define automation strategies.
- Develop solutions to process, building, and network challenges associated with automated systems.
- Collaborate with IT, Engineering, Manufacturing, Validation, and QC to resolve issues and improve performance.
- Serve as subject matter expert for site automation systems.
- Program, configure, and integrate equipment into OT Networks, Client, and QMS systems.
- Develop, review, and approve engineering documentation including equipment specifications and test protocols.
- Support development of engineering standards, practices, and procedures.
- Participate in investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation.
- Support automation and instrumentation requirements for manufacturing and laboratory operations.
- Maintain required training and compliance with GMP standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.4+ years of experience in a manufacturing support environment, systems integration, or automation engineering.Hands-on experience with PLC and DCS platforms such as Ignition, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and DeltaV.Experience with data and alarm systems such as PI, Win-911, and InfoBatch.Experience with Building Management Systems (Client); Delta Controls preferred.Familiarity with laboratory analytical instruments such as balances, pH / DO meters, cell counters, and filter integrity testers.Understanding of instrumentation, electrical standards, and wiring practices.Knowledge of network architecture including firewall, switching, and virtualized environments.Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet / IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, OPC, and BACnet.Experience applying GMP, data integrity, FDA Part 11, and Annex 11 requirements in automation system qualification.Ability to manage full automation lifecycle for controls components.Experience supporting bioprocessing systems for drug manufacturing preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
