Network Engineer (Chesapeake)

Insight Global is seeking a Network Engineer to join a local client of ours. This candidate will be responsible for finalizing the design and implementation of a BGP network.

Required Skills :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in network engineering, administration, or a similar role

Strong understanding of modern networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, TCP / IP, VLANs, MPLS, etc.)

Hands-on experience with Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Sonicwall, or equivalent network hardware. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Core Technical Requirements

• BGP Expertise : Ability to design, configure, and maintain BGP routing across multiple peers, including route reflection, policy controls, and failover scenarios.
• Network Architecture : Design scalable, redundant ISP-grade networks across core, distribution, and edge layers.
• Security : Knowledge of securing BGP sessions (MD5 authentication, prefix filtering, RPKI), firewall integration, and DDoS mitigation.
• Protocols & ISP Operations : OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VPNs, QoS, IPv4 / IPv6 management, peering agreements, DNS / DHCP / IPAM.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
