Patient Safety Attendant - Flex Pool - Flagstaff

Overview

The Patient Safety Attendant under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, is responsible for providing generalized support services in accordance with the Nursing Plan of Care and Medical / Surgical Standards of Care and Practice. S / he must follow all policies / procedures of Northern Arizona Healthcare. S / he performs other duties, as assigned or directed, that are within the scope and abilities of the individual's training. The PSA may interact with patients and / or families, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Responsibilities

Patient Care

• Communicates patient / family needs and / or concerns to the collaborative healthcare team.
• Assists with ambulation of stable patients, if appropriate, under the direction / supervision of the RN.
• Uses an interactive approach to keep patients safe and occupied (i.e. play cards, read books, write notes, etc.)
• Receives and assists in the setup of patient food trays and snacks under the direct supervision of the RN.

Education

High School Diploma or GED- Required

Certification & Licensures

BLS (American Heart Association)- Required

Fingerprint Clearance Card application number- Required upon hire

Fingerprint Clearance Card- Required within 90 days of hire

Experience

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
