Bakery Buyer
Weavers Way Co-op is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative committed to the triple bottom line of People, Planet, and Profit. We prioritize local sourcing, sustainability, and community well-being while supporting over 300 local food vendors. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Bakery Buyer to manage product selection, purchasing, and merchandising for our bakery department. This role supports the Grocery Manager in ensuring an appealing and profitable product mix that reflects co-op values and customer preferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase and maintain bakery inventory in line with customer demand and supplier availability.
- Source and evaluate new products, suppliers, and trends to keep offerings current and competitive.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and deliveries to ensure quality and value.
- Receive and verify deliveries; manage returns and credits as needed.
- Merchandise bakery products and coordinate promotions with other departments.
- Ensure product labeling accuracy, including complete ingredient lists.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with special orders.
- Promote co-op membership and embody Weavers Way values in all interactions.
Qualifications
Previous retail buying experience; bakery experience strongly preferred.Exceptional customer service and communication skills.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.Knowledge of bakery industry trends and supplier networks.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.Commitment to the mission and values of Weavers Way Co-op.Must be, or become upon hire, a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op.Compensation & Benefits
