Under the direction of the Program and / or Sports Director provides leadership to sports participants, coaches and parents in achieving a quality sports program for ages 3-15.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Adheres to and implements established rules of the game being officiated and communicates the rules effectively to players, coaches and parents for a specific sport (soccer, volleyball, football and / or basketball).
- Work and communicate effectively with the kids, parents, coaches, and staff.
- Effectively set up fields / courts and have proper equipment available.
- Routinely inspects equipment to ensure it is in good working condition before and after use.
- Return equipment upon completion of class and reports repairs / maintenance needed and cleans area as appropriate.
- Report damages, equipment failures or potential safety concerns and returns equipment to proper place after use.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and record keeping (i.e. skill sheets, attendance, and progress reports.)
- Ensures safety protocols at all times, reporting accidents or incidents immediately.
- Establish and maintain a professional image and rapport with members and students.
- Perform rescues and emergency procedures in accordance with facility polices and certification requirements.
- Perform additional functions or assume additional responsibilities as needed or as requested by the Program Director or supervisor.
- Engage in positive public relations with participants, members and guest ensuring a positive experience.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
- Adheres to the Association operating policies and procedures by operating the programs within the guidelines set forth.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures regarding the safety, health and welfare of members, program participants, guests and staff;
responds to emergency situations in accordance to facility policies and certification requirements.
Attend and actively participate in all trainings, staff meetings / in-services as assigned.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience Required :
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
- Knowledge of sport rules and be able to control the flow of the game by using and teaching the rules. Experience working and communicating effectively with players, coaches and parents.
- Ensure the highest quality of service and level of professionalism by establishing and maintaining a team attitude, order, discipline, and encourage good sportsmanship and constructive competition for players, coaches and parents.
- Demonstrates objectivity in emotional situations; maintains patience, confidence and composure under pressure or adverse circumstances.
- Demonstrates effective oral communication; conveys information in a clear, yet concise manner; actively listens to others.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with groups and / or individuals from different backgrounds.
- Represent the YMCA in a positive manner .
Certifications / Trainings Required :
- Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in community CPR / AED and First Aid.
- Maintain position-specific required certifications as stated in the training matrix.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

- The employee needs sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and authorized work phone / smart device.
- Ability to instruct and observe participants during program activities.
- The employee frequently is required to see, observe, and hear all participants, and make sound judgments and decisions.
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including, but not limited to, leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
- Hear noises and distress signals in the program environment, including in the classroom and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.
- Must have flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Ability to lift and move a minimum of 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity / dampness, heat and cold.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- This position requires reliable transportation and willing to travel, if needed.
This position may require availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
