Job description

What you’ll tackle

  • Operate, tune, and repair ammonia refrigeration systems to keep product moving.
  • Monitor performance trends; spot when systems drift out of spec and act quickly.
  • Execute component replacements with strict LOTO discipline and full PSM program adherence.
  • Perform refrigerant pump‑downs / evacuations to safely service valves and related parts.
  • Complete routine warehouse equipment maintenance consistent with OSHA requirements.
  • Use voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges to evaluate performance; test and calibrate HVAC assets.
  • Verify workmanship against blueprints, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Test safety equipment to ensure OSHA and operational compliance.
  • Capture accurate PM records within Oracle CMMS; maintain a clean, organized, 6S work environment.
  • Support flexible scheduling needs, including on‑call coverage.
  • Contribute to additional assignments as required.

    • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of industrial refrigeration maintenance experience; OR 3+ years of industrial maintenance plus certifications such as RETA, Garden City, or EPA Universal.
  • Successful completion of assigned industrial refrigeration and maintenance coursework.
  • Controls experience with ALTA / Allen Bradley systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • HAZMAT training with active certification (or ability to obtain and maintain).
  • Oracle CMMS experience.

    • Preferred

  • Background in cold storage operations.
  • Hands‑on ammonia refrigeration maintenance.
  • CARO / CIRO credentials.
  • Advanced Oracle CMMS proficiency.
  • Ability to diagnose to the component level on all refrigeration equipment.
  • Desire to mentor and develop junior technicians.

  • May be required to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of –20 degrees Fahrenheit and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold and precipitation).
  • Must be able to work at heights in excess of 35 ft. and be able to access elevated platforms and catwalks
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; push; pull; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; and crouch
  • Must frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. Either naturally or with the aid of eye glasses (use of contacts are prohibited when working with ammonia).
  • Able to work nights and weekends.
  • Able to pass a physical and respiratory exam.
