Assembly Technician

Job Description :

  • Responsible for performing a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations which may include skilled hand work or utilizing automated production equipment.
  • Majority of the work will be circuit card Assembly / Soldering and Epoxy applications.
  • A magnifying microscope may be required for certain circuit card soldering and epoxy applications.
  • Comprehends and interprets a variety of technical specifications, terms and documents.
  • Determines and follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units.
  • Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.
  • Fully proficient support individual contributors.
  • Works under limited supervision.
  • May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise.
  • Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment.

Nature Of Supervision :

  • Works under limited supervision.
  • Less detailed instructions are provided and minimal peer review is required.
  • Communication & Influence.
  • Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
  • May be a resource to other employees in areas of proficiency.

  • Work may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures.
  • Follow established processes to complete tasks. Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations.
  • Resolves most issues.

Education and Experience :

  • Requires fully proficient job knowledge / skills including hands on J-STD-Class 3 skills.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary / Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Must Haves :

  • Previous circuit card assembly / hand soldering experience.
  • Requires fully proficient job knowledge / skills including hands on J-STD-Class 3 skills.
  • Basic proficiency on computers and applications.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and reference engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team-based environment and interact with support team members.
