INTRO / BRIEF SUMMARY : Demand Planner is responsible for providing data insights and analytical support for the collaborative development, monitoring, and communication of the demand forecast for assigned business units.
Utilize strong analytical ability, business partner relationships, and data storytelling skills to drive value in a role that is essential to Smith+Nephew.
What will you be doing?
- Developing and maintaining a rolling statistical demand forecast for assigned product lines at the SKU, family and franchise level in assigned markets.
- Lead the reviews with sales, marketing, finance and supply chain management of the statistical and market forecasts, explaining the business assumptions behind the forecast and methods used to quantify each event
- Drive achieving consensus for operational demand forecasts by leading a collaborative demand planning process with sales, marketing and finance stakeholders at the market and regional levels
- Ensure that monthly forecasts are compared to and in alignment with financial budget / forecasts. Explain variances, note uncertainty and highlight risk areas to the consensus team
- Lead reviewing the strategic product strategies, to include product launches, product end of life and other events that affect forecasts with franchise marketing and communicate strategies and decisions to regional demand planning
- Define with Regulatory certification and other requirements and timelines and ensure that forecasts align with these requirements
- Lead the demand planning portion of Sales and Operations Planning, communicating forecasts to Inventory and Supply Planning and facilitating feedback communication of any constraints or decisions made in S&OP review
- Ensure that reports pertaining to demand planning process are prepared and maintained, measuring a broad set of metrics : forecast error, forecast bias, inventory levels, customer service levels
- Facilitate product allocation and prioritization in conjunction with Marketing, Supply Management, and Inventory Management
What will you need to be successful?
- Education : BA / BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or related field required
- Advanced degree preferred
- Experience : 2+ years of relevant experience required
- APICS certifications a plus
- Leadership if any :
- Travel Requirements : Domestic up to 10%
