About the Role

As a Senior Application Security Engineer at Confluent, you will join a dynamic team focused on defining and implementing the security strategy for our products, both on-prem and in the cloud. Your role will involve embedding security throughout the product lifecycle—right from design and development to testing and deployment. You will partner closely with product and engineering teams to proactively address current and emerging security threats and cultivate a strong culture of security awareness throughout the organization.

This role will also include the development of software automation to support various security operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical security knowledge along with software development skills to help build and execute effective security architectures, while managing and resolving systemic security vulnerabilities at scale.

What You Will Do

• Promote and enhance software security across the organization by engaging with key stakeholders.
• Stay updated on new security vulnerability classes and perform assessments and tabletop exercises as needed.
• Conduct security threat modeling and design reviews, providing early security design guidance to engineers and product managers.
• Perform security feature implementation reviews, penetration testing, API security testing, and code reviews to identify vulnerabilities and offer essential security guidance.
• Develop and enhance security automation tools to scale product security operations and improve vulnerability management.
• Design, build, and implement security solutions, frameworks, and orchestrations to secure cloud applications.
• Identify and implement additional technological controls to enhance visibility and protect key attack vectors.
