Job Summary

We're seeking a Senior Power BI Data Visualization Lead who is motivated by variety, seeks a challenging professional growth environment, and can support large information technology projects for a utility client in the northeast. The Sr. Power BI Lead will serve as the primary architect and strategist for advanced business intelligence solutions that support operational, regulatory, and performance reporting across the utility enterprise. In addition to guiding the development team, the Lead will actively develop solutions to ensure project requirements are met.

Location

Newark, NJ (local office; travel may be required). Ideal candidates must be local to the area or be willing to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Power BI dashboards supporting enterprise initiatives such as asset performance, outage management, AMI analytics, and regulatory compliance reporting.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders—operations, IT, finance, and regulatory teams—to define requirements and deliver data solutions aligned with utility performance metrics and KPIs.
• Develop efficient Power BI data models, DAX calculations, and Power Query transformations that ensure accuracy, scalability, and performance.
• Integrate Power BI with enterprise data sources such as Maximo, ADMS / OMS, GIS, CIS, and data lakes to enable comprehensive reporting and analytics.
• Establish and maintain visualization standards, governance frameworks, and version control across enterprise dashboards.
• Support the automation of recurring reports and dashboards to improve efficiency and data reliability.
• Mentor junior BI developers and analysts, fostering a culture of data literacy and self-service analytics across the organization.
• Present high-impact visual insights and performance reports to executives and key stakeholders to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Stay current with Power BI feature releases, AI-driven visualization enhancements, and emerging analytics practices in the utility industry.
