Director, Business Development
Location : Dallas, TX (Flexible Working with regular travel across the US)
Salary : Circa $200k
Job Summary :
On behalf of our client, we are looking to hire a Director of Business Development who will lead all aspects of business development to drive pipeline and revenue growth, enhance customer retention and success, and strengthen our market position.
This senior role involves managing a team to deliver winning proposals and effective marketing initiatives, mentoring a team including Proposal Manager(s), Proposal Writer(s), and overseeing the implementation of strategy improvements.
Key Responsibilities :
- Strategic Leadership & Insight Development
- Lead strategic projects to provide competitive and strategic insights, translating these into actionable business outcomes.
- Maintain oversight of the business development process, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies.
- Offer hands-on strategic and tactical direction for bid activities, ensuring continual process improvements.
- Team Management
- Provide guidance and coaching to the Business Development team, fostering skill development and enhancing team performance.
- Assist business unit leaders and architects in identifying and developing new technologies, programs, and services.
- Ensure team alignment with the strategic goals and objectives of the organization.
- Relationship and Network Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing customers and industry consultants.
- Manage consultants to support and enhance the company’s relationships with key stakeholders.
- Proposal Management
- Ensure the appropriate resources are assigned appropriately and ensure their successful delivery.
- Ensure the efficient management and communication of proposal schedules, deliverable requirements and deadlines to meet RFPs to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure routine quality and compliance reviews of proposal documents to ensure 100% compliance with RFP requirements and compelling responses.
- Marketing and Outreach
- Present system solutions and services to both new and existing customers and industry consultants.
- Actively participate in conferences and industry events to promote the Quarterhill brand and build industry relationships.
- Utilize competitive analysis and opportunity identification to assist in creating and executing strategic plans.
- Budget Oversight
- Manage and monitor the Business Development budget.
- Ensure efficient use of resources and manage spending within allocated budgets.
- Review financial data and performance metrics to make informed decisions about strategic investments and activities.
Education and Experience :
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Master's Degree (Preferred) : An MBA or other relevant graduate degree is highly preferred.
- Proven Business Development Experience with a minimum of 7 years in a business development role, with a significant portion of this experience at a management or senior level in the ITS / Tolling industry.
- Proficient in modern business and communication technologies, CRM software, Microsoft 365 products, data analysis tools.

- Financial Acumen expertise in budget management and financial forecasting
- Network and Relationship Management ability to establish a professional network and manage and expand client relationships.
- Sales and Negotiation skills expert in sales strategies and negotiations with key clients including closing major deals.
- Strategic Planning and Execution Ability to build strategic plans and execute on growth strategies.
- Communication and Presentation skills ability to effectively articulate value propositions including excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation abilities.
