Responsibilities Work in a Pediatric ICU (PICU) setting within a hospital Care for critically ill pediatric and adolescent patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 1-2 and 1 : 3 for intermediate care Float to adolescent, pediatric, PHOC, NICU units based on census and skillset Schedule is three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7 : 00 am to 7 : 30 pm, with every other weekend and holiday coverage required Must be available to work at least 2 out of 3 holidays during the contract Uses EPIC for charting Responsible for comprehensive critical care nursing duties including complex monitoring and interventions for critically ill children Required to float to other pediatric-related units within skillset as needed Must complete EMR-specific modules and additional non-billable training prior to start and annually Must not have been employed by RWJ Barnabas Health in any capacity in the last 12 months Both local and travel candidates are accepted on the same terms First-time travelers are welcome to apply RNs are required to adhere to attendance policies; multiple callouts or contract non-completion may affect eligibility for future assignments Requirements Active NJ or Compact RN license at the time of consideration Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NIHSS preferred Minimum of 2 years of recent PICU RN experience required Experience with CVP, CVVH, hemodynamic monitoring, interpreting and managing EKG, pediatric early warning scores (PEWs), insulin administration and pumps, nasogastric tube management, IV insertion and access (ports / a-lines / central lines / PICCs), procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, external ventricular drains (EVD), VP shunt and ICP monitoring, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), endotracheal tubes, ventilators, tracheostomies, renal failure management, peritoneal dialysis, wound care, and trauma care is required Experience with ECMO is preferred Must provide recent references as part of the consideration process Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-626246.
