At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $155.00 to $175.00 hourly, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.

Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.

We are actively recruiting emergency physicians to join our growing team that provides state of the art emergency care to the population of the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.

As an independent, not-for-profit hospital serving the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire region, Lawrence General Hospital provides access to high-quality acute care and offers a designated Level III Trauma Center, Cardiac Care Center of Excellence (Cath lab and STEMI care) and Primary Certified Stroke Center. Lawrence General offers a broad range of services and specialty surgeries in its Santagati Center for surgery and leads the region in cardiac care with a highly accredited cardiovascular center. The Lawrence General Hospital Emergency Center is a 41 bed Emergency Room that serves 67,000 visits annually. Features of the Emergency Center include 3 expanded trauma / resuscitation rooms, a dedicated CT and X-ray, ED Observation Unit, dedicated Behavioral Health team, and a newly expanded Vertical Area for less acute patient care. Ultrasound and advanced airway equipment.

Holy Family Hospitals

A 310-bed full service, acute care hospital with two campuses located in Methuen and Haverhill, Massachusetts, Holy Family Hospital provides expert care in the areas of orthopedics, wound care, women’s health, cardiovascular care, stroke care and behavioral health care to patients in the Merrimack Valley. Holy Family Hospital features 24 / 7 emergency services at both locations, outpatient services, comprehensive inpatient medical / surgical units (Methuen campus) a Level II Special Care Nursery, Intensive Care Unit (Methuen), and Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry.

The HFH Methuen ED sees over 35,000 visits annually and the HFH Haverhill ED sees over 18,000 patients annually. Both EDs are staffed with emergency physicians and advanced practice providers.

Emergency Medicine Team

The Emergency Medicine team includes over 30 Emergency Physicians and APPs as part of an integrated department. Emergency Physicians in the LGH and HFH Emergency Center bring administrative and quality support in the fields of EMS, Ultrasound, International Emergency Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, and Quality and Patient Safety. Family Medicine Residents from the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center also rotate through the LGH Emergency Center. Both campuses are on the same EHR.

Primary Qualifications and Responsibilities

Regular Schedule : 32 or 28 hours per week, working 2 weekends per month.

Nocturnist Role working the overnight shifts. Significant shift and pay differential. Nocturnists have significant control over their schedule.

Option A. 28 Hours Per Week working 1 Weekend.

Option B. 24 Hours Per Week working 2 Weekends.

Minimum of MD, DO, or foreign medical equivalent.

Successful completion of an Emergency Medicine residency program

Eligible for full unrestricted licensure to practice in Massachusetts.

BC / BE in Emergency Medicine (ABEM / AOBEM)

Physician time will be allocated between the HFH EDs and LGH ED depending on clinical needs and provider preference.
