Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position in California, requiring a CA RN license and recent L&D experience.
Responsibilities
Work in the Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospitalCare for laboring mothers, antepartum, postpartum, and newborns (32 weeks and above)Patient ratios per ACOG and California guidelines, typically 1 : 3 or 1 : 4 coupletsCerner EMR system, including Cerner PowerChart Maternity and Cerner Fetal Links for fetal monitoring12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with every other weekend requiredFloating to Postpartum in rotation with permanent staffFloor orientation includes 3 shifts (2 in L&D, 1 in Mother / Baby)Level II NICU on site staffed by specialized nurses attending all deliveriesOccasional care for GYN overflow patientsLDRP rooms are recently updated; postpartum rooms are in a separate, older areaNot a locked unit but uses the Hugs and Kisses infant security systemFrequent use of translation services for a high volume of Mandarin-speaking patients via Vocera phonesLactation nurse support available during the day to coordinate breast-feeding careScrub color is ceil blue and provided by the hospitalAnesthesia and respiratory therapy available 24 / 7; OB technicians assist when not in casesHoliday coverage required on a rotating basis (one major holiday every three)Optional call shifts may occur; must be able to remain within 20 minutes of the hospital during call and may use hospital sleep roomRelias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique testing may be required during orientation depending on hospital policyAll staff participate in triage and non-stress test proceduresRequirements
Active, in-hand CA RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experienceCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal MonitoringExperience with Cerner EMR preferredMust provide two professional references : one supervisor reference within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 yearsCopy of driver’s license required for considerationMust not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past yearBenefits
