Overview
Normally Reports to : Warehouse Manager or Branch Manager
Job Objective : Assist warehouse management (Shipping Manager, Receiving Manager, and Warehouse Manager) in all areas of the warehouse. Performs inspection, maintenance, and repairs on heavy duty vehicles, such as trucks, trailers, forklifts, pickups, fuel mules, etc., and on any type of equipment, including pumps.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests to identify worn and damaged parts.
- Keep equipment available for use by completing preventative maintenance, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion and completing winterization procedures.
- Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major and minor assemblies and sub-assemblies, components, parts or systems including : power and drivetrains, electrical, A / C systems, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics, etc.
- Complete machine shop operations, making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
- Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjust controls and systems.
- Test and adjust engine, safety, and combustion control in compliance with state and federal standards.
- Maintain vehicle appearance.
- Maintain accurate, DOT compliant maintenance records and shop records.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, trouble-shooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance and calling for repairs.
- Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
- Keep accurate records of all parts / stock and order as needed for maintenance and repair.
- Inventory parts monthly and ensure all accurate records exist.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation.
- Additional duties as needed and assigned.
Mechanic
Completes preventive maintenance on all equipment.Inspects, repairs, and overhauls all equipment (e.g., Trucks, Pumps).Records all maintenance and repairs.Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.Ensures services provided are in compliance with federal and state vehicle and safety requirements by testing engines, safety, and combustion control standards.Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.Responsible for diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical troubleshooting, steering, and cooling systems.Occasionally delivers and picks up fuel tanks to industrial clients.Other
