Job Description

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (Required)

Must-Have : Epic experience, comfort with 48hr / week contract

Description :

General Information : This is a mixed ICU unit comprising of medical, surgical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients.

Complex ICU patients range from surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma.

Diagnoses include but are not limited to ARDS, MI, CVA / TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma.

Cardiac experience is preferred but not required.

Experience with CABG / TAVR 24 to 48 hours post-op is preferred but not required.

Travelers must have one prior travel assignment and live a minimum of 100 miles away from the facility.

Patient Ratios : RN ratios vary from 1 : 1 to 1 : 3 depending on acuity.

Required Skills : Experience with IV medications, hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, critical thinking, and assessment skills.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with all critical patients.

Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT is strongly preferred.

Support on the Unit : CNAs and mobility aides are available per unit.

Two charge nurses oversee all ICU operations.

Phlebotomy is limited to peripheral blood draws only.

An advanced clinical team places all midlines.

Resource nurses are available based on staffing.

Respiratory therapists are available 24 / 7.

There are three intensivists on days, two on nights, plus additional advanced practice providers during nights.

The charting system used is Epic, with Alaris and Omnicell for equipment.

Floating : Floating is not common but can occur if overstaffed.

If floating, it could be to any adult floor, including Medsurg / Tele with a 1 : 4 ratio.

Confirm traveler's comfortability with potential floating during the interview.

Orientation involves a hospital introduction session and a specific unit orientation.

Weekend rotation is required every other weekend.

There is no on-call requirement.

Holiday Expectations : No time off during holidays.

Approval of time off allows for up to 7 days but must extend the contract to accommodate a full 13-week span.
