Description
The LPN provides clinical support to the assigned Division within the Department. Primary responsibility of the position is to ensure that safe quality an deficient healthcare delivery is provided to patients under the direction of a Medical Doctor (MD), Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), Physician Assistant (PA), or Registered Nurse (RN).
This position performs daily application of the School's mission and vision in providing the highest level of quality care to our patients, families, and in working with our employees, physicians, and the communities we serve.
Examples of Duties
Nursing Duties Time Commitment-80%
Education 10% 1. Assists in patient teaching and participates in staff and community education programs.
2. Provides orientation to daily clinic activities and training for nursing personnel, students and residents. 3. Assists with instruction of secretaries in the provision of patient activities.
4. Functions as resource person for general public requesting information regarding assigned Division and SIU Department of Surgery as a whole. 5. Completes annual training and competencies. Administrative Duties 5%
Research Duties 5%
Qualifications
1) Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation; AND
2) 6 months of nursing experience in a health care facility (such as a hospital, nursing home, medical clinic, prison, mental health facility, or closely related facilities)
Condition of Employment : Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date.
