Responsibilities :

Career Advising and Student Support Services

  • Provide career advising services to students and alumni t hrough individual appointments, drop-ins, programs, and special events
  • Administer and interpret various career assessment tools with students (such as Focus2) and provide guidance on next steps for exploring majors and careers
  • Design and implement Career Pathways Program to foster early integration of career readiness into the curriculum and broader student experience
  • Partner with Academic Advising on New Student Orientation, especially the Explore program for undeclared majors
  • Collaborate with pre-law advisors on programs specific to pre-law students and coordinate the annual Alumni Law Panel
  • Collaborate with Academic Advising and pre-professional advisors on programs and services for students seeking admission to graduate or professional school
  • Serve as liaison to the Academic Resource Center and other academic offices for career related programs and initiatives

Career and Professional Development Programs

  • Plan and implement career education and professional development programs and events to enhance career readiness of all students and career advancement of alumni, including workshops, seminars, events, and panels
  • Research and develop specific content for programs as needed
  • Ensure the CDC provides students and alumni with current, relevant career resources, guides and materials (tip sheets, examples, etc.

Elective Credit Internship Program

  • Teach sections of elective credit internship course (BU480, BU481, etc.) as needed
  • Support evaluation and development of internship courses and overall program
  • Participate as needed in vetting employers new to the program

Additional Responsibilities

  • Foster relationships with academic departments, offices, and organizations as part of CDC’s liaison model
  • Keep current on developments in the field and participate in professional organizations
  • Serve on college committees or special projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in education, counseling, human services, business or related field required, preferably with three to five years of experience in student services or advising, ideally in career services
  • Demonstrated experience in providing high-quality, individualized advising, guidance and support for college students and alumni
  • Previous experience administering and interpreting career assessment tools such as Focus2
  • Prior experience with Handshake, or other career management systems is helpful (but not required)
  • Experience designing and delivering career development programs, workshops or similar activities
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments on organizing and implementing career related programs
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Positive, enthusiastic, team player with a commitment to excellence in student services
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Availability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for special programs or events

This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt staff position eligible for a hybrid work schedule, including up to two days of remote work per week, in keeping with the College’s policy.
