Automotive and Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on all types of University vehicles and equipment, including heavy diesel equipment.
- Inspects, repairs, overhauls and modifies all types of automotive, lawn and garden, and custodial equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance on all types of University equipment.
- Maintains and updates service and individual job records pertaining to time and material usage.
- Performs service calls, minor adjustments, and / or repairs the equipment at the work site. Gathers and disseminates routine information.
- Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge by attending special courses, workshops, or seminars.
- May purchase parts / supplies, clean up shop, take billing information to Accounts Receivable, call departments for scheduled maintenance, and wash cars.
- May supervise helpers and laborers.
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of any site support position to include assisting any skilled trade.
Required Education : High School diploma or GED or Technical School diploma in Automotive Mechanics, AND :
24 months minimum automotive and / or heavy equipment repair
Skills
- Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English
- Read and understand complex written materials such as blueprints, metrics or technical manuals
- Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
- Advanced knowledge of repairing automobiles and light equipment
- Knowledge of the proper tools and equipment used to repair automobiles and light equipment
Certifications
- ASE Certified
- Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License, or willingness to obtain within one year of employment
- Oklahoma Alternative Fuels Technician License, or willingness to obtain within one year of employment
Advertised Physical Requirements
Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors and loud noises consistent with a fleet repair shop;
regularly stands, lifts, bends, stoops; lifts 30lbs or more above shoulders, exposure to heavy lifting up to 100lbs; wears / maintains personal protective equipment.
