Job Summary
The Dental Hygienist is responsible for hygiene assessment and the development of a dentalhygiene plan. Specifically, they are responsible for oral prophylaxis (teeth cleaning and deepscaling) and application of decay-preventing agents such as topical fluoride and pit and fissure
sealants. Their services are aimed at prevention of oral disease and preservation of naturalteeth. As part of their work, the Dental Hygienist may polish teeth and remove stains, dentalplaque, and calculus. They may also take and expose oral x-rays and provide nutritional andpreventive oral hygiene instructions.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Maintains proper, detailed, and accurate records of all services provided
- Under direct supervision of a licensed dentist :
Administer local anesthetic
Conduct preventive and therapeutic interventions including oralprophylaxis, scaling, and root planningApply topical, therapeutic, and sub-gingival agents for the control of cariesand periodontal diseaseTake impressions for bleaching trays and apply and activate agents withnon-laser, light- curing devicesTake impressions for bleaching trays and place of in-office, tooth-whiteningdevicesWithout supervision, the hygienist may :Provide educational services
Conduct oral health training programsConduct oral health screeningsRefer any screened patient with possible oral abnormalities to adentist for a comprehensive exam, diagnosis, and treatmentplanFor any public health program created by federal, state, or localgovernment entity, provide dental hygiene preventive services in addition tooral screenings, including but not limited to application of fluorides and pitand fissure sealantsProvide quality care to the patients of DAP Health, within the scope of practice outlinedby state and / or federal lawDeliver care in accordance with established standards of care and accepted communitystandardsUnderstand the organization's commitment to provide high quality patient carePromote a patient-centered environmentPerform other duties as assignedQualifications
Required Skills / Abilities
Working knowledge of computersExcellent communication skillsEducation and Experience
Associate or baccalaureate degree in dental hygiene from a program approved by theCalifornia Dental Board, accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation andgranted by a degree-granting post-secondary institutionCurrent BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association or AmericanRed Cross3-5 years' experience as a hygienist preferredCalifornia Registered Hygienist LicenseWorking Conditions / Physical Requirements
