As a Senior Engineering Manager for CommTech in our Fremont office you will play a crucial role in New Product Introduction (NPI) and Revenue Generating Projects within our Battlespace and Spectrum Monitoring Systems (SMS) markets. / ppYou will be joining a small dynamic team who develop cutting-edge products. As Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a large percentage of the Engineering team and ensuring we deliver on our key initiatives. You will be process oriented and experienced in managing teams involved in New Product Development, Revenue Generating Projects and Sustaining Engineering. / ppManaging a technical team responsible for embedded SW development, firmware development, user interface development, RF and Antenna Development and systems engineering, you will own resource planning and staffing to meet current and projected department workload along with driving processes and procedures in support of the Director, Engineering. / ph3What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) / h3pWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be : / polliPartner with the Director of Engineering to drive success across key initiatives and CommTech KPIs. This includes providing strategic input, execution, and performance reporting to keep initiatives aligned and moving forward. / liliLead resource planning and staffing for current and upcoming projects, including the development and application of tools to assess staffing adequacy and availability against projected workloads. This role also involves supporting the Director of Engineering in evaluating project viability and scheduling decisions to ensure timely and effective execution. / liliSupporting the Director, Engineering in implementing and enforcing processes and procedures to drive consistency and quality. This includes, but is not limited to New Product Development, Testing and Release, Engineering Change Control and Issue / Bug Tracking. The role involves ensuring compliance, identifying areas for process optimization, and fostering alignment across teams and initiatives. / liliInterface with Internal Stakeholders to ensure Engineering meets our commitments to the wider business, such as sustaining and maintenance Engineering. / liliProvide a strategic on-site engineering presence in the Fremont office, partnering with the CTO, Director of Engineering, and Chief Engineer to streamline communication, support technical decision-making, and foster team alignment. / liliProvide line management for Senior Engineers and Engineering Group Leaders, offering strategic guidance, mentorship, and support to direct reports in their team leadership roles. / liliSupporting the Director, Engineering with input into planning (resource and budget) and reporting. / liliContribute to technical input on the design and development of new products, ensuring alignment with engineering best practices, performance requirements, and innovation goals. / li / olh3What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education) / h3pWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has : / ppstrongRequired Experience Education / strong / pulliMSEE or MSCS with emphasis on RF communication systems. MBA (or equivalent) would be helpful. / lili5+ years experience in RF based system level engineering with exposure to both hardware and software components. As required by law in this state, the quoted salary range for this position is $180,300- $261,000 and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect. We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidates experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus, subject to the rules governing the plan.
