Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to join the Critical Care Float Pool for night shifts, requiring a valid CA RN license and ICU experience.
Responsibilities
Work in the Critical Care Float Pool at a Level 1 trauma centerCare for ICU and stepdown patients as well as ED and PACU admit hold populationsNight shifts are scheduled as three 12-hour shifts per week, 19 : 00 to 07 : 00Floating required within the entire Critical Care DivisionUses Epic for EMR; experience requiredCerner charting experience also requiredNo blocked scheduling or self-scheduling permittedResponsibilities include advanced monitoring, management of complex ICU patients, and interventions such as external ventricular drain and lumbar drain managementTeam-oriented environment with support from critical care staffModules are assigned for completion before start and annually; hours vary by specialtyMust be able to provide RTO upfront; no RTO allowed within the first two weeks of the assignment, and a maximum of 7 days off per 13-week contract is preferredCandidates must be absent from prior employment at the facility for at least one year to be eligible to return as a travelerLocals are accepted at the same rateNo interview may be conducted; candidates must be comfortable with this processSpecific dress code and holiday coverage expectations will be provided during orientationRequirements
Active CA RN license required at the time of application (no EMSA accepted)Minimum two years of critical care nursing experience requiredCurrent ACLS and BLS certifications requiredCPI Blue Card required for all float pool nurses; MAB or online CPI not acceptedExperience in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ failure, central line and arterial line management, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, neurological monitoring, and post-cardiac / neuro surgical careEpic EMR experience required and must be documented in work historyCerner experience requiredPass / fail EKG exam upon assignment (up to three attempts allowed)Two supervisory references required for considerationFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyBenefits
