Environment, Health and Safety Manager

Job Summary

To formulate and direct policies to provide a safe and healthy atmosphere within the workplace and to comply with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.

Essential Functions

• Develop health and safety procedures and programs for all departments and monitor safety compliance to reduce risks.
• Maintains contingency plans, including fire prevention, and procedures for controlling hazardous spills in accordance with government regulation and insurance company requirements.
• Supervises maintenance of material safety data sheets so they are always accessible according to regulations.
• Develop inspection policies and establish regular inspection schedules.
• Supervises training sessions for emergency preparedness, confined spaces, electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protection and forklift safety.
• Maintains EPA records of hazardous waste, air emission permitting, and water pollution discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to OSHA regulations.
• Monitors professional literature and attends seminars to stay current with governmental compliance requirements.

Incumbent works in a manufacturing environment and will use the following equipment : computer, printer, copier, and telephone. Requires walking (50%), standing (50%) and sitting (10%).Requires full range of body motion such as twisting, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching above / below shoulders, and lifting to 50 lbs. Required safety equipment : hair / beard net, safety glasses and ear plugs. Incumbents will be required to travel by plane and auto for training and exposure to new processes and equipment, visiting vendors
