Role Overview
As a Superintendent specializing in mission critical / data center construction, you will be responsible for the execution and field leadership of technically complex, schedule-intensive projects. You will lead all on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with strict uptime, security, and quality standards typical of data center environments. This role demands precision, proactive planning, and advanced coordination across trades to meet tight timelines and strict commissioning protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on-site execution of mission critical projects from groundbreaking to final commissioning and handover.
- Manage day-to-day operations, including coordination of trades, adherence to construction schedule, logistics planning, and enforcement of safety and security protocols.
- Oversee and enforce compliance with client-specific standards for data center construction, including electrical, mechanical, and low-voltage systems.
- Drive quality assurance across all trades, with special focus on MEP systems, redundancy, and commissioning readiness.
- Maintain rigorous site documentation, including daily reports, inspections, progress tracking, and look-ahead schedules.
- Conduct and document pre-activity meetings (e.g., MEP coordination, system testing, commissioning sequences).
- Support integrated system testing and manage coordination with commissioning agents and vendors.
- Interface directly with clients, facility managers, and third-party stakeholders during critical path phases.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams to proactively resolve constructability issues.
- Lead jobsite safety meetings and ensure 100% compliance with OSHA and client-specific safety protocols.
- Maintain security protocols for sensitive areas including access control, badging, and escorted trades.
- Foster strong relationships with subcontractors, clients, and internal team members to ensure alignment on goals and expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
5+ years of experience in a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent role with at least 2 years on mission critical / data center projects.Demonstrated understanding of MEP systems, commissioning processes, and Tier-rated data center infrastructure.Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, startup, testing, and turnover of critical systems (UPS, CRAC, generators, etc.).Experience working in live environments or phased data center upgrades is highly desirable.Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.Competency in construction scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) and field management tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam).OSHA 30 certification required; First Aid / CPR and NFPA 70E certification preferred.Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.Ability to work nights / weekends as required during system cutovers or commissioning milestones.Benefits
