Annual Salary Range :

Master’s Degree Annual Salary Range : $45,689.70 (3 years’ experience + 5% Special Education Certification) to $60,132.45 (25 years’ experience + 5% Special Education Certification)

Bachelor’s Degree Annual Salary Range : $44,230.20 (3 years’ experience + 5% Special Education Certification) to $62,150.

Job Description

Basic Purpose

Position provides training / consultation to families and school districts throughout the State of Oklahoma. Provides educational consultation to school administrators, classroom teachers and other members of the educational team.

Partners with school districts statewide, mentor teachers, and support deaf and / or hard of hearing students attending school in their home districts.

Design / co-plan professional development and learning events for students, families, and LEA staff and connect virtually with general education teachers to provide ongoing short seminars on specialized topics.

Education and Experience

Master’s Degree in Deaf Education or related field required or Bachelor’s Degree with extensive teaching / classroom experience.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching or related experience with deaf and / or hard of hearing students. Oklahoma Teacher licensure or ability to attain.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

Knowledge of IDEA special education law as applied to children who are deaf and / or hard of hearing. Knowledge of public-school systems and special education programs.

Position is located at Oklahoma School for the Deaf (OSD) in Sulphur.

Background Check : The Department of Rehabilitation Services will conduct a criminal background check on new hires as part of an offer of employment that is made contingent upon a successful criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications : Fluent American Sign Language (SLPI Advanced, QAST 4-5, ASLPI 4-5) and English Skills
