Electrical Inspector

What You'll Do
- Inspect new and existing wiring and electrical installations in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Review plans and specifications for compliance with municipal and state electrical codes.
- Issue permits, prepare inspection reports, and provide written correction instructions when needed.
- Investigate hazardous electrical complaints and ensure timely resolution.
- Advise contractors, homeowners, and businesses on electrical code requirements.
- Work closely with city staff, outside agencies, and the public to maintain high standards of electrical safety.
What It Takes
High school diploma or GED equivalent.Considerable experience in the electrical trade as a licensed journeyman or master electrician (or equivalent training / experience).Current Iowa Class A Master Electrician License or Iowa Class A Journeyman Electrician License.Valid drivers license.Ability to obtain International Code Council (ICC) Electrical Inspector Certification within 12 months of hire (if not already held).Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in a variety of field conditions.Dependability, professionalism, and strong communication skills.Why Join Us?
