Director of Payroll - Las Vegas Resort & Casino
A premier resort property in Las Vegas is seeking an experienced Director of Payroll to lead a high-volume payroll operation supporting a large, diverse, and union-heavy workforce. This role is ideal for a seasoned payroll leader who excels in complex hospitality and gaming environments and has deep expertise in workforce management systems and compliance-driven payroll structures.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Payroll will oversee all end-to-end payroll functions for a multi-department, 24 / 7 operation. Core responsibilities include :
- Leading all payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with federal, state, and gaming regulations.
- Managing and optimizing Workforce Management (WFM) systems, with strong emphasis on UKG / Virtual Roster, including scheduling, timekeeping, labor tracking, and system configuration.
- Ensuring compliance with union contracts, including interpretation and application of CBA rules, shift differentials, overtime structures, and benefit deductions.
- Administering payroll processes for tipped and commissioned employees, including compliance with the Gaming Industry Tip Compliance Agreement (GITCA).
- Overseeing payroll audits, reconciliations, and validation processes to maintain accuracy across a large employee population.
- Partnering with Finance, HR, and Operations to streamline workflows, enhance labor reporting, improve data accuracy, and support budgeting and forecasting.
- Leading, coaching, and developing the payroll team to maintain high operational standards and service levels.
- Serving as the primary liaison with internal and external auditors, regulatory bodies, and software vendors (particularly UKG).
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience leading a payroll department, preferably in a Director-level capacity.
Strong background with high-volume hospitality or Las Vegas Strip casino operations, including union environments.Expertise with Workforce Management systems, specifically UKG Workforce Central / UKG Dimensions / Virtual Roster or similar large-scale platforms.Deep understanding of payroll compliance, including tip reporting, GITCA, multi-rate employees, and complex scheduling structures.Demonstrated ability to manage large employee populations across multiple departments and around-the-clock operations.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills with the ability to streamline workflows and enhance system efficiency.Excellent leadership and communication skills with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and operational excellence.Compensation
