Job description

Are you passionate about uncovering insights and leveraging data to drive strategic marketing decisions? Global Marketing Engines and Experiences (E&E) provides the foundation for all Marketing engines, data, technology, and digital experiences across the commercial marketing organization. This allows us to streamline how we plan, execute, and report on all of Microsoft's marketing activities around the world, and ensure we communicate with our customers using a consistent voice and approach across paid and organic touchpoints.

As a member of the Global Marketing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Team, you'll be at the forefront of increasing organic search and AI platform visibility and improving performance for our portfolio of commercial products including Azure, GitHub, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft 365, Windows 365, Microsoft Security, and more.

We are seeking a Sr. Artificial Intelligence Search Engine Optimization Manager (AI SEO) with strategic, predictive, presentation, interpersonal, and persuasive skills to join our team so that it can deliver transformational optimization strategies to variety of internal leaders and departments. Your colleagues will consist of full-time employees, contractors, and an outsourced agency that have worked together to produce insightful data analysis about our global customers and competitors.

In this role, you will develop and execute an optimization strategy for the Microsoft commercial Marketing portfolio that will increase visibility in AI-generated responses. One day you might be presenting findings on our competitors' tactics and the next you might be writing an analysis of how AI tools discover and index content. Your work will help drive visibility and web traffic for our brands, products, and services.

This opportunity will allow you to deepen your knowledge of cutting-edge AI SEO (also known as Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) or Artificial Intelligence Optimization (AIO)) techniques, gain experience working with large-scale websites, and develop your leadership skills by teaching others. You will also have the chance to work with the latest SEO and AI technologies, staying ahead of-and helping to define-industry trends.

Responsibilities

Business Strategy and Planning

Manages execution planning and supports end-to-end execution. Assists with the development of a program recommendation, working closely with the operations partners. Identifies solutions that address operational inefficiencies. Develops a brief to support the program, and gathers feedback from stakeholders. Collaborates with Product Marketing to identify the business objectives that can be supported by a program. Guides the development of engaging customer experiences by tracking customer feedback and working with customer support teams.

Recommends and aligns priorities for integrated marketing with internal and external stakeholders. Enables the change management necessary to drive the go-to-market (GTM) strategy. Sets direction for business groups, Product Marketing, and Business Planning teams to develop impactful GTM strategy, plans, launch activities, customer segmentation, and / or promotional strategies that drive revenue growth via customer engagement and monetization for products across business areas. Uses deep knowledge of customer segments to identify new areas of investigation and optimize the scope of research to ensure specific business needs are addressed.

Identifies opportunities and sets direction for digital channel (e.g., Web, relationship marketing, social media, digital acquisition, search engine optimization [SEO] / search engine marketing [SEM]) strategy, development, and content curation. Owns, measures, delivers, and optimizes key metrics and reporting on marketing activities across channels and platforms. Creates reports and analyses of customer metrics to identify opportunities to improve engagement with customers by collaborating with engine owners. Acts as an internal expert on digital channels and helps to educate the team on principles and practices.

Recommends digital channel strategy by leveraging deep knowledge of industry dynamics, identifying potential customers and their current and future needs, and monitoring the competition. Leverages customer targeting, segmentation tools, and various metrics to provide recommendations to continually update and improve customer experiences (e.g., optimize segments, spend, performance, improve digital channels).

Sets plans and strategies for marketing campaigns, programs and promotions for a limited range of business areas by collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Product Marketing, Business Operations, Campaign Management, Business Intelligence, Engineering) Uses understanding of business to share insights, align priorities, and document campaign planning and execution decisions through internal collaboration. Sets direction for the development and curation of content and customer journeys designed to engage customers while taking diversity, inclusion, and accessibility into consideration.

Measurement

Analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) for a range of related products, programs, audiences, and / or engines to identify and share insights with the purpose of advancing business impact, through a regular rhythm of business (ROB) of reporting and business review meetings. Defines which KPIs should be used to measure the success of the business and coordinates efforts with leaders to apply them. Identifies potentially impactful trends and recommendations and uses their understanding of the business to present findings to internal stakeholders. Examines performance data and trends (e.g., financial, operational, product) to develop insights and make recommendations for corrective actions and optimization.

Defines and manages execution of test-and-learn experiments to improve business outcomes across one or more businesses, products, or channels, often partnering with engineering and analytics teams. Recommends actions based on results and presents those recommendations to executive audiences. Leverages diversity, inclusion, and accessibility metrics to diagnose risk areas, identify opportunities, and track the progress of Microsoft marketing initiatives.

Project Management

Develops detailed project management plan to drive delivery for projects of medium complexity or supports senior colleagues in projects of high complexity, leveraging existing materials and experience to drive scope and resources. Develops and executes communication plans to share progress, blockers, and learnings across stakeholders. Sets milestones and integrated workback schedules to drive progress. Manages finances for projects with mid-size to large scopes and budgets by balancing funding and resources across workstreams, performing analyses, and leveraging cost management experience and expertise.

May oversee the reporting of budget and marketing funds to key stakeholders and finance teams. Optimizes energy / growth of project team members to pursue right outcomes, and challenges team members to achieve business results. Manages escalations or ensures resolution of escalations with appropriate stakeholders and overcomes ambiguous situations as needed. Remains abreast of current market trends and internal digital processing development efforts and capabilities. Coordinates with extended network of partners on the influence approach and the transfer of knowledge.

Defines the all-up AI SEO strategy and plan for the full Microsoft commercial Marketing portfolio. You will conduct research on prompts and AI-generated responses, and you will complete competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities and inform our tactics. You will monitor AI SEO trends and algorithm changes, always staying ahead of updates to ensure the company's strategies remain competitive.

Advocates for AI SEO within Marketing, educating stakeholders and championing organic search as a growth channel. You will monitor and report on AI SEO performance, using tools like Ahrefs, Google Search Console, Adobe Analytics, and internal dashboards to surface insights and recommend optimizations.

Manages integrated marketing program execution planning, as well as help develop program recommendations. You'll also identify solutions that address inefficiencies, and collaborate with Product Marketing to identify the business objectives a program can support. You will analyze KPIs, then share insights that will advance business impact.

Recommends actions to executive leaders based on those results, as well as use performance data to develop insights and make improvement recommendations.You will drive medium complexity projects by developing a detailed project management plan, as well as manage finances for projects with mid-sized to large budgets. You'll also develop and execute communication plans to share progress, blockers, and learnings.

Qualifications

Required / minimum qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 3+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience OR equivalent experience.

1+ years experience building strategies directly targetting AI SEO AND LLM (Large Language Model) search.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 5+ years integrated marketing (e.g., digital, relationship, social media, campaign), event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related experience OR equivalent experience.

Integrated Marketing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
