Senior Underwriting Manager, Middle Market Construction

Description

Exciting leadership opportunity to manage a talented team of construction underwriters, blending strategic vision, strong leadership, and deep technical expertise to drive meaningful impact across the portfolio. As Senior Underwriting Manager, you will guide and develop this high-performing group, foster trusted relationship internally and with brokers and partners, and make critical underwriting decisions that shape our portfolios longer-term success. This role focuses on building upon the teams achievements, cultivating a culture of excellence, and delivering consistent and predictable growth in a fast-evolving insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Drives a culture of underwriting excellence across entire portfolio.
• Drives change initiatives within the team.
• Maintains a visible external profile and excellent relationships with external brokers / agents, partners and stakeholders, leveraging these relationships to help the team achieve their goals and expand their own networks.
• Acts as a point of escalation / referral on particularly tricky or novel underwriting decisions.
• Upholds and exemplifies Liberty`s value proposition across the business and market.
• May cover for manager where required.
• Accountable for the performance of a portfolio (or part thereof) within a sub-segment of business underwritten by the team.
• Specific technical responsibilities (e.g., related to planning, portfolio management, marketing, product development etc.) will differ in different parts of GRS.
• May continue underwriting specific policies and delivering the work of an Underwriter.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and / or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
