Job description

ASAP Counselor (BEH HEALTH COUNSELOR 4 HX)

Join UC Davis as an ASAP Counselor and provide counseling services, crisis intervention, group programming, and referral for staff, faculty, retirees, and their families. In addition to mental-health care, you will consult with managers and supervisors on employee well-being and lead psycho-educational programs on topics such as stress management, mindfulness, resilience, work-life balance, team building, and effective communication.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Current licensure in behavioral-health counseling or license-eligible in California (must acquire a CA license within six months).
  • Master's degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Professional clinical training and experience counseling adults with adjustment issues, substance abuse, stress, and workplace concerns.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations of faculty, staff, retirees, and adult family members.
  • Skills in clinical assessment, DSM-V-TR diagnosis, treatment planning, and referral, with knowledge of ethical, legal, and university standards and mandated reporting requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in employee assistance or related programs.
  • Experience working with veterinary-medicine professionals.
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with campus and community partners (HR, faculty, clinicians, veterinarians, etc.).
  • Knowledge of research protocols and basic statistics.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.

Key Responsibilities

  • 80% – Direct clinical service
  • Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling to UC Davis employees and families.
  • 15% – Outreach & consultation
  • Consult with managers, supervisors, and HR on well-being and mental-health concerns.
  • 5% – Administration & program development
  • Coordinate community resources, develop psycho-educational programs, and serve on campus committees.

  • Salary : $80,300 – $147,500 per year, paid monthly
