The Department of Educational Leadership prepares candidates to effectively lead in educational organizations in the Central Valley of California and beyond.
Our graduates serve in leadership roles in diverse educational settings such as public and private schools, colleges, universities, and other related educational agencies.
We have three graduate programs : Master of Arts in Educational Leadership Administration, Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership (HEAL) and the Doctor of Education (Ed.
D.) in Educational Leadership. Program graduates are continuously recognized as scholar-practitioners, instructional leaders, and agents of change in P-12 schools and in higher education.
Position Overview :
The Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership Research Center invites applicants for a Graduate Research Assistant. This is a 20 hours a week, 12-month, in-person position beginning in Summer 2023.
Candidates must have been accepted to the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership and enroll beginning Fall 2023. The ideal candidate is a first or second year doctoral student interested in developing and enhancing their research skills via supporting KSOEHD community members in their research and inquiry needs.

Summer 2023 : May 22, 2023 August 11, 2023
Fall 2023 : August 17, 2023 - December 22, 2023
Spring 2024 : January 16, 2024 - May 18, 2024
- Hours / Units per week : The Graduate Research Assistant can work up to 20-hours per week;
- 1-unit is equivalent to 2.66 hrs per week (40hrs x 1-unit / 15-unit)
- No more than 6-units, (or not to exceed 7.50 total wtus in one semester, which equates to 20-hours per week)
Job Duties may include the following but will be dependent upon the specific needs of the Research Center and the Research Center Director
- Supports the Research Center Director in the daily activities of the center, including attending Center and Doctoral Program meetings, taking notes, and maintaining a system for the organization of activities;
- Staff the Research Center;
- Develop marketing and promotional materials for the Center;
- Provide consultation (feedback, resources, support) to KSOEHD community members on research topics and ideas;
- Plan workshop sessions on topics related to research and inquiry;
- Co-lead biweekly communities of practice on research design, methodologies, and topics related to conducting research;
- Collaborate with the Ed.D. Program Advisor and Graduate Assistant as necessary; and
- Liaise with various college, campus, and community partners to support research partnership opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Flexibility in their schedule to include possible business and evening hours depending on Center needs;
- Some familiarity and experience with research is helpful but not required; however, the candidate should indicate their interest in developing their research skills and understanding of research paradigms and methodologies; and,
- Deep interest in social justice, equity, and inclusion as a key facet of their interest in developing as a researcher and leader;
Qualifications :
- Must have earned a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree;
- Enrolled (or admitted and will enroll) full time in the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at
Fresno State
