Work Shield is seeking a
Employee Relations Paralegal
to join our growing Investigations Team in our office in Dallas, Texas. Work Shield provides the only enhanced and tech-enabled solution that partners with employers to efficiently manage reporting, investigation and resolution of workplace harassment, discrimination, and misconduct issues in their entirety. The Paralegal is responsible for supporting Work Shield’s legal and investigations team by performing a variety of legal and administrative tasks.
This position supports employee relations, workplace investigations, and coordination while maintaining key administrative reporting and documentation responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring HR and / or employee relations experience and the ability to manage sensitive workplace matters with professionalism and discretion within Work Shields incident management portal and deliver key reports with data to leaders. Lastly, this position will be responsible for pre-screening, assigning and coordinating complex and sensitive workplace incidents including Title VII harassment and discrimination, Title IX harassment, discrimination and sexual harassment, retaliation and other workplace misconduct for our clients’ employee populations. This role will be in direct contact with our internal and external investigatory partners, our clients and their employee populations, and our internal teams.
The Paralegal, Workplace Investigations will be assigned within the Investigations Team and works under moderate supervision. This role reports to and helps assist the head of the Investigations Team.
Legal & Investigations Support
Assist with preparing and organizing incident case documentation, including reports related to employee relations incidents, and workplace investigations.
Support attorneys with document review and case coordination.
Maintain case management systems and ensure accurate, timely recordkeeping and data analysis.
Assist in tracking, analyzing, and reporting trends related to workplace misconduct and employee relations cases.
Employee Relations & Compliance
Serve as a liaison between the investigations and client success teams to ensure seamless and compliant incident case management and resolution.
Assist with the intake, documentation, and coordination of employee complaints or workplace concerns.
Support HR and legal leadership in ensuring cases aligns with internal policies and applicable scope of what Work Shield provides to its client partners.
Handle highly confidential employee and employer information with professionalism and integrity.
Provide both administrative and strategic support to the investigation teams and, where needed, client success team.
Assist in onboarding and training client HR partners on Work Shield’s case management process, ensuring a strong client experience.
Completes intake and conducts pre-screen assessment and call, if necessary, of incoming incident reports of discrimination, harassment, and other workplace misconduct based on protected Title VII and Title IX status through Work Shield’s call center and online reporting systems.
Coordinates with investigators to assist in handling escalated claims and red alert issues.
Develops a working knowledge of federal and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws, regulations, including Title VII, Title IX, labor relations and other related laws and policies.
Works with the Development Team to coordinate and communicate technical support issues related to the incident management platform.
Operates with a people-centered approach in all interactions with team members, client contacts and their employees, external investigatory team, board members, and external stakeholders.
Uses a high degree of empathy and handles sensitive and confidential information.
Other miscellaneous investigation related tasks and projects as assigned.
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
~ Certification in Paralegal Studies, preferred, but not mandatory
~3–5+ years of experience as a paralegal or employee relations specialist, ideally with exposure to employment matters and / or workplace investigations.
~ Experience partnering with HR or handling employee relations cases strongly preferred.
~ Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential employee matters.
~ Proficient in case management systems with experience in HR and / or Employee Relations matters.
~ Strong technology capabilities in running reports, gathering data and providing quick analysis.
~ Experienced use of Excel and Excel Reporting
~ Bi-lingual (English / Spanish) strongly preferred
The salary range for people entering this role is up to $90,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
