Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position

POSITION AVAILABLE : One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2024, and / or Spring Semester 2025.

THE DEPARTMENT : The Department of Public Health is one of the largest and fastest growing departments at Cal State East Bay, with 15 tenure-track faculty members and approximately 500 students.

The Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree aims to prepare graduates for entry-level careers with social impact encompassing community-engaged health, environmental health, epidemiology, health education, health communication, and health program planning / evaluation.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences is designed to prepare students to enter directly into careers involving health policy, or post-graduate professional programs.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION : The Department of Public Health has part-time positions open for teaching undergraduate courses to students inside and outside the major.

It is recruiting in all areas, but has a particular need for instructors in : health / medical humanities, health disparities / health equity, bioethics, health law, health economics, health regulation, health care payment systems, and health data & information management.

Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and / or online.

The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.

RANK AND SALARY : Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges :

Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $4,530 - $6,056

Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $5,405 - $11,994

Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,190 - $13,172

Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $7,794 - $13,797

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT : Fall Semester begins August 19, 2024 and Spring Semester begins January 21, 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS : A doctoral-level degree, . PhD, DrPH, MD, JD, or proof of candidacy for a doctorate is required; applicants with a Master’s Degree with accompanying certification and / or work experience will be considered.

Candidates with experience teaching within a population perspective through a lens of social determinants (including structural racism) are desired.

The Department prefers applicants with teaching experience at the college / university level, primarily in-person.
