Job Description :
The Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) will provide specialized instruction, support, and resources to students with visual impairments.
Collaborating with students, families, and educational teams, the TVI will develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
Additionally, they will deliver direct instruction in areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology to facilitate academic and independence goals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' visual functioning and educational needs
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students, families, and educational teams
- Provide direct instruction and support in areas such as braille literacy, adaptive technology, and daily living skills
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and community resources to ensure access to the curriculum and support services
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to accommodate students' visual impairments and learning styles
- Monitor student progress and make adjustments to instructional plans as needed
- Advocate for students' needs and provide guidance and support to families
Qualifications :
- Must have a Master's degree in Education for Visually Impaired Students
- Must hold an active LA Teaching License in Visual Education
- Strong knowledge of braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
- 2-3 years of experience in teaching visually impaired students required
- Must pass our Screen Test prior to interview

- Compensation : $30+ per hour
- Weekly pay + Benefits
- Start Date : August 12

- Caseload : Elementary students; 3 students need accommodations
- Hours : 35-40 hours / week (6 hours on-site + 1-2 hours Virtual for consult services)
