Overview

The Third Assistant Engineer (3AE) Mariner operates and maintains ships propulsion machinery and related systems; performs maintenance and repair support to the engine department and perform other duties as required by Chief Engineer / First Engineer; participates in shipboard practical oversight of cadets.

Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of a Third Assistant Engineer as directed by the Chief Engineer or his / her Designated Representative.
• Operates and maintains all equipment and systems onboard the vessel by direction of the Chief Engineer or his / her Designee.
• Performs as part of the Engineering Resource Management Team.
• Stands Engineering Watches Underway and Shore-Side.
• Participates in the education and instruction of Engineer Cadets by direction.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
