Finance Leadership Role
Highly visible, hands-on leadership role at GD-OTS with an opportunity to contribute to the success of the finance organization through providing technical accounting expertise and performing financial reporting functions for consolidated OTS within a growing environment. Key advisor for the accounting support function and training for all operating locations. Ensure accuracy, integrity, and efficiency across finance, and collaborate closely with key stakeholders to support long-term organizational success.
Requires specialized depth and / or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field. Uses advanced techniques, theories, and processes to complete work. Leads others to solve complex problems. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects. Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment.
Prepares, analyzes, and reviews financial statements using accounting principles. Keeps records of account entries by compiling and analyzing accounting activities. Prepares reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents that project the organization's financial position. Reviews financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Oversees accounting operations, or a complex segment of the accounting function. Coordinates accounting matters with other departments. May also have responsibility for preparing periodic financial statements required for external reporting. Collects and analyzes financial data, ensuring that all reporting is in compliance with SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Prepares internal reports as required. Researches accounting rules and regulations and makes recommendations regarding company policy. May provide support and assistance to external auditors.
Required education and experience : Associate's Degree and 8-10 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & / or Experience. Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills : Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred education and experience : Bachelor's Degree. Discipline / Major : Finance or Accounting degree preferred. Additional certifications : CPA strongly preferred. Knowledge, skills & abilities : Oral and written communication skills. Account reconciliation. Balance sheet analysis. Bank reconciliation. Calculate depreciation. Financial accounting. Financial reporting. General ledger accounting. Month-end close. Quarter-end close. Revenue recognition. Spreadsheets. Year-end close. GAAP standards. Accounting software.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and / or computer for extended periods of time. Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential.
No or very little travel likely.
