Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, Optimus

What to Expect Tesla is seeking a highly skilled and motivated mechanical design engineer in the Autopilot and Electronics Product Design team to design various electronic modules for Optimus. The engineer will lead the mechanicalsystem design toenabling compute, connectivity, and similar features.

What You'll Do

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and develop implementations
• Participate in prototype builds, component fabrication, testing and validation efforts
• Provide hands-on supportand perform data analysis
• Develop designs in CAD for both detailed parts and assemblies
• Perform tolerance analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other simulations and analyses before releasing designs for production
• Create 2D drawings appropriate for production and inspection methods
• Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews with suppliers and support tooling bring up
• Optimize components while considering performance, design, integration, size, mass, assembly and more
• Modeling and design of mechanical components and assemblies including plastic, sheet metal, die cast etc.
• Support development of engineering and reliability test plans, test data analysis, and troubleshooting of design issues

Expected Compensation $106,400 - $256,200 / annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
