Description

The Access & Reimbursement Specialist (ARS) will serve as an expert on reimbursement, access, and coverage challenges related to the client's products. This remote / field-based position proactively delivers approved education to designated accounts about reimbursement, access, and coverage to enhance patient access. The ARS will assess reimbursement and access challenges and act as a vital resource for other field personnel and regional management, in accordance with policy. When appropriate, the ARS will collaborate with the hub regarding individual patient cases, which includes access and coverage assistance, hub enrollment, and overall coordination.

This role requires significant collaboration across various functions, including Field Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Public Affairs, State and Government Affairs, Trade, and Specialty Pharmacy Accounts while adhering to all corporate and industry policies and procedures.

The daily responsibilities of the Access & Reimbursement Specialist include :

  • Analyzing access / reimbursement issues
  • Providing education on product access and reimbursement to healthcare provider (HCP) offices
  • Educating field teams on access / reimbursement, following approved guidelines
  • Coordinating access / reimbursement matters with external parties, including hubs
  • Offering guidance and support on Specialty Pharmacy issues for pharmacy benefit products
  • Informing HCPs about coverage related to benefit designs (Commercial, Medicare Part D, Medicaid)
  • Responding to inquiries about coverage, ICD-10 codes, and patient-specific access concerns
  • Keeping HCPs updated on key payer coverage changes that impact patient access
  • Supporting patient product access through expertise in payer coverage issues while ensuring compliance with policies and standard operating procedures
  • Educating HCP offices about the product hub program, including patient support services, financial assistance, and educational resources
  • Demonstrating knowledge of access resources and payer processes / policies
  • Participating in National and Regional Meetings

The ideal candidate will possess strong initiative, resourcefulness, and a results-driven mindset, along with the following qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years professional experience in sales, healthcare, scientific, marketing, or military settings
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in either public or private third-party reimbursement or in the pharmaceutical managed care, patient services, or clinical support sectors
  • Preferred experience in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), with additional areas such as Cardiology, Pulmonology, or orphan drugs being desirable
  • Demonstrated experience with hubs, alongside in-depth knowledge of billing, coding, and appeals across various provider types
  • Experience with commercial payers, Medicare plans, and state Medicaid within the assigned region
  • Competence in hub and patient support activities
  • Effective and clear communication skills—both written and verbal
  • Willingness to travel locally and nationally as required
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player with multiple sales representatives, leadership, and internal colleagues to achieve common objectives
  • A valid driver's license is required to travel to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified
  • Must reside within or close to the assigned territory
  • The annual base salary for this role is between $145,000 and $160,000. This range represents the expected low and high salary for this position at Syneos Health. Actual salary will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and experience. Some positions may offer a company car or a car allowance, as well as eligibility for commissions or bonuses based on individual or company performance.
