Reason for Need : We are recruiting due to a growing need in the community. We have had Urology via outreach specialist.
We are in need of a full-time employed physician. The practice is growing and will continue to grow.
Organizational overview : Astera Health is an Independent CAH with multiple specialties. We are a not-for-profit health care corporation that has been serving our communities for almost 100 years.
We are a Level IV trauma center. HPSA score of 13.

PRACTICE
Practice location : This position is located at Astera Health in Wadena, MN. We serve Wadena and the surrounding communities.
We opened a new hospital in March 2023, that includes 3 surgery suites / 1 Endo Room with space available for a 4th surgery suite and 2nd Endo Room.
- Practice setting : Hospital and Clinic setting. We are planning for a DaVinci in 2025. EMR is Epic. Planning a full, service Cancer Center to be opened in 2025.
- Expectations for new provider : The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.
Entrepreneurial spirit for program development.
- Colleagues : Orthopedic surgeon and his team of APPs, general surgeon, OB / GYN, Outreach Urologists, a team of Family Practice Providers and APPs.
- Volumes of current providers : Currently we have been utilizing 3 Urologists (via visiting outreach specialist / 8-10 days per month).
- Support staff : 1 surgical PA, with extensive Urological experience, 4 full-time CRNAs, a dedicated nurse in clinic, 8 circulating RNs, 6 Certified Surgical Technicians.
- Schedule : 4-day work week.
- Call schedule : No scheduled call but available for patient follow-up and consultation.
