Job Summary
- The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and is responsible for executing the Superintendent’s job duties in the superintendent's absence. The Superintendent is entrusted with the maintenance, operation, and management of the golf course. This position serves as a liaison between the company, the customer representative, and the golf shop on matters related to daily course operations. The Superintendent is easily contacted and also remains in contact with key employees on the golf course at all times. The Assistant Superintendent must be able to respond quickly to any situation.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Assist the Superintendent in the organization and direct maintenance of all areas within the scope and according to the technical specifications of the contractSupervise the operation, maintenance, and repair of all equipment assigned to the courseProcure and manage supplies and materials to support maintenance activitiesManage golf course maintenance employeesProvide valuable input on the interview, hiring, training, discipline, and separation processProtect the company’s interest through an awareness of and compliance with all applicable regulations, including course and company policiesAdminister all aspects of the BrightView Safety Program and the BV360 Management programRepresent BrightView Golf Maintenance positively and professionally, including attitude, appearance, and public relationsMeet or exceed external and internal customer expectationsEducation and Experience :
Experience in golf course management and turf culture preferredAn awareness of the construction, establishment, and maintenance practices employed on golf course putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkersA degree or advanced knowledge of agronomy, horticulture, plant, or soil science is preferredAptitude for administrative and executive responsibilities, including effective oral and written communication skills and computer proficiencyMust obtain and maintain a state-sanctioned pesticide applicator license within 6 months of entry into this jobFamiliar with the characteristics and proper use of fertilizers and soil conditionersKnowledge of irrigation, including watering practices, irrigation systems, pumps, wells, and automatic controls and drainageAble to prepare the course for play in accordance with the rules of golfEvaluate the course from the player's perspectivePhysical Demands / Requirements :
Constant operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, photocopier, and computer printerAbility to physically perform the basic life operational functions of walking, standing, and kneelingWork Environment :
