Salary Range : $45.4100 - $69.8500 / hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

Under the direction of the technical supervisor and medical director, the Cardiac Ultrasound Tech demonstrates competency and proficiency in all skills required to perform level I routine ultrasound procedures as defined by department protocols.

  • All technologists utilize independent judgment and the required knowledge to obtain high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images.
  • The technologist competently evaluates the technical quality of the images obtained before submitting them to the interpreting radiologist.
  • They educate the patient / family about the procedure and report all changes in the patient’s status, including initiating emergency response if required.
  • They accurately document patient information in the appropriate hospital systems.
  • Hospital-based positions may require call responsibility and rotation to hospital-adjacent imaging center locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Cardiology department only : On-call employees are required to respond to calls within 15 minutes, troubleshoot problems, provide services off-site as needed, and be available to provide services on-site as needed within 1 ½ hours of being called to respond.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Graduate of an ARDMS-approved ultrasound program.
  • A minimum of 3years of experience is preferred but will consider new grads.
  • Cardiology department only : Experience with adult, neonate, and pediatric cardiac ultrasound as well as stress echocardiograms, TEEs, and Intra-Operative TEE preferred.

Certifications Required

American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered in one or more specialties : Non-Invasive Cardiac Imaging : RDCSAE : Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult Echo (RCSAE) registered, Or RCS : Registered Cardiac Sonographer -Adult Echo, or registry eligible.
