Responsibilities :
TBX will be responsible for hiring and screening a Network Engineer candidate to work with SPGI. The engineer should be familiar with Telecommunication Managed Services processes and procedures.
The role of the engineer is to be the interface between Telecommunication and the client. This person will be the lead person dealing with technical Telecommunication related matters from operational, strategic engineering planning and implementation.
The engineer will be a SPGI employee but will be primarily responsible for two PIP networks that SPGI have with Telecommunication.
The engineer should be New Jersey based. The customer office is in Princeton, NJ and the engineer will be responsible for reporting to this site until they are up to speed on the network.
Duration : 12 months to start.
Overview of the Senior Network Engineer role :
- The Senior Network Engineer will develop and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Implement best practices for authentication and data encryption to ensure network security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complicated issues such as network outages, slow performance, and security breaches.
- Work with IT teams and stakeholders to maintain network requirements.
- Expert for solutions in advanced networking and unified communications.
- WAN / LAN technology provisioning and configuration.
- Wide Area Network technology provisioning and configuration.
- Work within the customers networking team.
- Must be familiar with Telecommunication trouble ticketing handling process and be able to intervene to work ticket to resolution
- Serve as an on-site contact for SPGI and WiPro to engage in the event of any incident specific to the Managed Services network.
- Participate in all bridges to provide SPGI with frequent and informative reports on the status of the trouble resolution effort
Provide a source of technical and administrative knowledge concerning the managed network
services delivered by Telecommunication and in use to support SPGI business operations
Support change management activity on the Telecommunication managed network, including the issuance and coordination of change requests needed to implement an SPGI-approved network
change.
Promote best practice trouble management and trouble reporting processes with the WiPro team, including efficient use of the Telecommunication Enterprise Center portal for reactive ticket creation
and trouble status.
- Demonstrate and educate SPGI and WiPro users on the benefits and functionality of the Sev-One management platform
- Work with Telecommunication to get the latest off-hour duty managers and escalation contacts.
- Provide regular reports on incidents, changes, and ticket root causes.
- Ability to escalate to Telecommunication network and service management teams to for trouble ticket resolutions
- This resource will support SPGI during US business hours and can be engaged on occasion for critical issues off-hours.
Primary off-hour support will be transitioned to a Major
Incident Management resource.
Candidate will be screened by Telecommunication and final approval will be customer
Senior Network Engineer Qualifications
- The Senior Network Engineer will have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in designing, configuring and troubleshooting wired and wireless networks and security solutions.
- Experience with Cisco Switching, Cisco Routing, Cisco Firewalls, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco Wireless.
- Expert knowledge in the maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and telecom equipment.
- Experience with TCP / IP, OSPF, MPLS, BGP, DMVPN and other routing.
- Experience in configuring routers, switches, firewalls, IPSEC / SSL VPN.
- Experience with cloud services
- Experience with SD-WAN technology
- Conceptual Knowledge of SASE / SSE
Language skills :
