FSA Federal (FSA) is focused on delivering unsurpassed services in support of law enforcement and homeland security. We currently have a vacancy for a Paralegal II / Fact-Witness Coordinator. Responsibilities Provide fact witness management assistance prior to, during, and after trials; Complete and process travel vouchers to support the fact witness management process and ensure timely witness payments; Work directly with witnesses to ensure appearance for court, pre-trial conferences, and grand jury by arranging travel and lodging needs; Coordinate with other agencies / officials regarding the fact witness management process; Provide clerical support to the USAO, Northern Alabama District. Assignments will typically include : Receiving and responding to visitors, phone calls, questions and other inquiries from fact witnesses seeking information pertaining to court, pre-trial conferences, grand jury appearances and expense reimbursement; Initiating and maintaining communication with fact witnesses in a timely manner, regarding travel arrangements, appearance dates and times, and special circumstances; Obtaining necessary information, forms, approvals, and authorizations for files and documents to arrange fact witness travel and initiate reimbursements; Preparing and submitting documentation for authorizations and approvals in accordance with Department of Justice and USAO policies and procedures; Conferring with AUSA regarding fact witness appearances and special circumstances regarding witnesses; Providing fact witnesses with travel documents and appearance information in a timely manner; Escorting and providing facility orientation to fact witnesses upon arrival to hearings and conferences; Performing clerical legal office actions pertaining to fact witness management including, but not limited to, calendaring, database creation and maintenance, and document management. Requirements A High School Diploma, or equivalent (an undergraduate degree is preferred) One year experience in administrative or legal setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, word processing, document management, business administration, and data entry Proficiency with office technology, including but not limited to computers, fax machines, and copier machines Proficiency in organizational skills and the ability to multitask assignments Automated litigation support experience very helpful. Basic paralegal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation system sufficient to perform basic legal research. Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools. Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, and telecommunications. Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure. This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation. In addition to affording rights and providing services to victims pursuant to the Crime Victims' Rights Act (CVRA) and other federal law, Victim-Witness personnel are responsible for witness management.
