Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for managing, delivering, documenting, and communicating patient care in a cost-effective and ethical manner within their scope of practice. This role requires competencies specific to the patient population being treated.
Responsibilities
The Occupational Therapist duties include, but are not limited to :
Interprets referrals, examines, evaluates, and develops or modifies the occupational therapy plan of care, including anticipated goals and expected outcomes.Conducts comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and safety assessments of patients, as evidenced by clinical documentation.Coordinates care with other clinical team members to ensure optimal patient care and communication.Directs Occupational Therapy Assistants and ensures they perform specific components of treatment.May serve as a clinical instructor and assist with the orientation of new staff or volunteers.Provides and modifies skilled interventions using therapeutic procedures and techniques to produce improvements based on diagnosis and prognosis.Initiates corrective actions as necessary when abnormal conditions or responses are noted.Documents progress with clear, concise, and timely reports.Demonstrates understanding of the developmental lifespan and provides age-specific and culturally sensitive care.For Home Health : Plans and provides skilled occupational therapy treatment in patients' homes, reassessing their status at each visit and ensuring quality of care.Physical Demands & Environmental Exposure
Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including infections, communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, mechanical and electrical equipment, and sharp equipment.Frequent exposure to heat, humidity, and chemicals in various therapy settings.Occasional driving required for community re-entry evaluations, with potential exposure to weather conditions and traffic.Must follow all safety precautions and be adaptable to a high workload with frequent interruptions and stressors.Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational TherapyCurrent Oklahoma Occupational Therapy license OR eligibility for licensure in OklahomaCurrent BLS or CPR certification, or completion within 30 days of hirePrevious experience preferredMust be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)For Home Health : Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving recordFor Aquatics : 2 years of experience preferred, with Water Safety Certification required within 6 months of hireCertified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred for Hand Therapy DepartmentAdditional Requirements
