ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

TES is hiring a temporary Associate Director of Development, Regional Engagement to support our Advancement team.

Duration : 6+ months(Could be extended)

Compensation and Benefits : Eligible for Mid-level Medical Benefits, Vacation, Sick, and Holiday pay.

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday

Location : Hybrid. Work location is at the main La Jolla Campus

DESCRIPTION

The Associate Director of Development, Regional Engagement develops, manages and executes alumni engagement efforts within key markets and builds a sustainable presence for the University within target regions. This will be accomplished through cultivating and managing relationships with a portfolio of UC San Diego alumni in key geographic regions. Under the leadership of the Senior Director, Alumni Engagement and Outreach, the Associate Director plays a critical role in substantially increasing personal contact with alumni across the region. The goal being to develop a sense of connectedness to the University through meaningful engagement opportunities that inspire and deepen consistent engagement and annual philanthropic support of his / her portfolio as well as annual giving Last Year But Unfortunately Not This year (LYBUNT) and Some Year But Unfortunately Not This year (SYBUNT) alumni donors. Having wide-ranging experience, administers, oversees, or performs work involved in establishing and maintaining the highest level relationships between the institution and its many alumni and other constituents, including the general public and various other relevant publics or interest groups, which may include internal, external, domestic and foreign audiences. Constituencies typically include the most influential or powerful institutional publics or special interest groups.

The incumbent will also be responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with three of the undergraduate colleges on campus. This includes partnering with the provosts of those colleges to engage students and alumni and develop programming to leads to philanthropic support of the colleges.

The Associate Director develops qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for his / her portfolio, identify and qualify new annual giving prospects, develop and execute cultivation and solicitation plans for gifts up to $25K or above. Specifically, the Associate Director outlines multi-year plans to effectively and meaningfully engage alumni through appropriate programs, solicits them for annual gifts and recurring gits and if possible qualifies them as major donor prospects while deepening their propensity for advocacy and volunteer service.

To accomplish the goals and objectives of this critical position, the Associate Director, under guidance and direction of the Senior Director, collaborates with Alumni Engagement and Advancement colleagues, the UC San Diego Alumni Board of Directors and College Provosts to foster a long-term dialogue that advances the role of alumni at UC San Diego. The Associate Director will integrate an array of programs and services including annual giving, university development, undergraduate colleges, academic divisions, and vice chancellor areas, and will interact frequently with senior leadership, donors, prominent volunteers and board members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.

Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Ability to make persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives for a location in order to secure gifts.

Proven experience in the full spectrum of development including : gift policies, solicitations, stewardship, donor recognition, and administration.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement persuasive cultivation ideas and techniques and provide critical analysis, using sound judgment with realistic expectations for prospects and donors.

Strong written and oral communication skills that demonstrate correct grammar usage, syntax, and format, with the ability to make oral presentations and / or interpret various related programs to potential donors.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, faculty, donors, volunteers, and University officials, with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism, and discretion.

Experience managing, planning and staffing donor events

Experience collaborating with and executing meetings with Senior Leadership and / or Academic Leaders

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as Required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the Required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range : $108,100 - $204,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $51.77 - $98.13

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
