Looking for a full time Lead Cashier to assists with the coordination and execution of department operations and work. Must have evening and weekend availability.

Pay starts at $16.90 per hour.

Requirements : As a retail grocer, we operate 7 days / week and 365 days / year. Our in-store positions are likely to include evening and weekend shifts per the needs of the business.

About the role : Assists with the daily coordination and execution of department operations and work. Operates cash register, processes and bags customer orders and performs carry-outs.

Provides exceptional customer service and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Position Responsibilities :

• Cashiers and bags customer purchases; performs carry-outs as needed.
• Assists in daily department communication prior to each shift; produce codes, additions to Front End (FE) journal, changes to processes and any other information pertaining to department operations.
• Helps to maintain excellent department conditions, including appearance, cleanliness, signage, staffing and service levels.
• Coordinates coverage to ensure consistent service levels; runs line chart ensuring that all FE staff receive breaks and lunches, calls for back-up as needed and responds to account for call-outs.
• Helps to ensure department follows cash handling and register operations. Processes returns per policy and assists cashiers with complex returns.
• Maintains adequate supply of cash. Sells change as needed throughout the day. Maintains FE bank per department guidelines.

Prepares daily bank deposits and cash / coin order with accuracy.

• May perform tasks associated with period end, including safe audit and other money-handling tasks as assigned.
• Ensures department complies with alcohol sales regulations.
• Follows company procedures for processing invoices, transfers and credits.
• Assists with the maintenance of FE Resource Guide to ensure cashier accuracy.
• Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays and events. Plans for weekly ads, events and holidays using tools and reports.
• Tools and Equipment Used (not all inclusive) : This position may be required to use the following tools and equipment : box knife, baler, scanner, hand truck, POS, conveyer belt, industrial kitchen equipment (i.

e. blast chiller, grill, knives / blades, oven, grills, scales, etc.), basic housekeeping / janitorial and standard office equipment.

This position works at a Medium level. Required frequently and up to continuously to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift.

Sitting seldom required. Up to occasionally, dependent on location, required to climb stairs, step stool and / or ladders.

• Continuously required to : lift 1-10 pounds; push / pull 1-10 pounds; use arms, hands and wrists; grasping / squeezing
• Frequently required to : lift 11-20 pounds; twist; reach below shoulder
• Occasionally required to : carry 1-50 pounds; push / pull 11-20 pounds; bend / stoop; crouch / squat; reach at / above shoulder

What you Bring as a Candidate :

• Previous customer service, food service, retail or grocery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of retail Front End Department / Lead Cashier experience highly preferred.
• Previous supervisory or management experience highly preferred.
• Entry level to high level proficiency with MS Office. Working knowledge with POS, inventory or other retail specific software preferred.

Physical and Environmental Work Space : Work occurs in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise level, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures.
