Data Center Construction- Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in overseeing and coordinating various aspects of a project, such as project planning and scheduling, monitoring project progress, communicating with stakeholders, coordinating with team members and subcontractors, tracking project expenses, and ensuring that the project stays on track and within budget. The assistant project manager may also be responsible for, preparing reports, and assisting in resolving any project-related issues that arise during the course of the project. Ultimately, the Assistant Project Manager plays a key role in helping to ensure that the project is completed successfully and meets its objectives.
This Assistant Project Manager role is phase 3 of 3 on the path to becoming a Project Manager with one of the largest electrical technology companies in the country.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist in estimating project scope and costs
- Manage project expectations and execution of subcontractors
- Maintaining project documentation
- Tracking project expenses and budget
- Preparing reports
- Communicate with clients and subcontractors
- Attend and actively participate in project coordination and owner / contractor / architect / engineer meetings as requested or required.
- Research and preparation of change requests to resolve design issues for approval
- Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences, and errors / omissions
- Monitor field work and / or contract work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications, and codes
- Assist with the submittal and RFI processes
- Assist in the early completion and tracking of billing
Education & Experience
REQUIRED
2+ years as an Assistant Project Manager over commercial electrical workAble to work independently as well as in a team environmentStrong computer skills and quick to learn new systemsCommitment to continuous improvement of communication, organization and leadership skillsEffective scheduling and delegation to accomplish tasks on timeTactful conflict resolution and problem solving abilitiesApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship. Bachelor's degree in a related field (Project Management, Construction Management, Business, Engineering, etc.), paired with industry experience OR an overall appropriate combination of certification(s), experience, and education (journeyman or master electrician's license)A good understanding of how to read electrical drawings and specificationsFamiliar with computer-based estimatingKnowledge of billing and collectionsBenefits
