Join to apply for the Engineer I - Engineering Rotation Program role at Southwest Power Pool . This program offers recent engineering graduates or early-career professionals hands-on experience across multiple departments within SPP.
Key Responsibilities
- Support electrical engineering analyses related to transmission planning, tariff studies, and network modeling.
- Rotate across multiple departments to gain cross-functional knowledge and exposure.
- Develop technical proficiency in power systems concepts and related software tools.
- Assist in studies and assignments directed by planning services teams, stakeholders, or internal committees.
- Apply basic engineering judgment with oversight from experienced professionals.
- Support project teams in meeting deadlines and achieving deliverables.
- Develop a working knowledge of governing processes, including SPP Tariffs, FERC, and NERC guidelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (calculus-based) from an ABET-accredited program; degree should be in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering, or equivalent.Engineer I – No experience necessary.Competent with administrative and communication tools for word processing, spreadsheets, development and time keeping, as a minimum.Intermediate proficiency with most SPP power systems analysis tools and related software.Practical understanding of the SPP Open Access Transmission Tariff, FERC & NERC governing documents, SPP By-Laws, SPP Criteria, and the SPP Committee structure.Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with excellent written and verbal communication.Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).Preferred
Advanced degree in related field of study.Position Type And Expected Hours Of Work
Full-time position. Days and hours : Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. – 5 : 00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.Travel Requirement

Compensation Information
The salary range represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. Engineer I Pay Range : $80,000 - $85,000 . We are open to discussing salary expectations based on factors such as qualifications, skills, experience, and geographic location.
